Carnoustie Sportswear Performance Polo Review

Golf apparel manufacturer Carnoustie Sportswear has been producing high-end cotton golf clothing for the past two decades, but over the last few years the brand has been making strides into the performance side of golf apparel. Carnoustie’s performance knits have been carefully selected to keep up with the same luxury and quality feel of their cotton garments.

Carnoustie’s performance polos are the center-focus of this new apparel venture. The polos are crafted from a spandex blend material that gives stretch needed for the course while also providing the moisture wicking, UV protection, odor management, and easy care qualities golfers are looking for.

We tested the Solid Performance Polo in Capri. For Spring 2016, Carnoustie Sportwear will offer its apparel in three distinct color palettes Classic (red, white, blue), Resort (black, white, yellow, daiquiri green), and Desert (orchid and citrus orange). The micro-poly fabric features a subtle diagonal weave which adds visual interest to the polo. The material was a noticeably heavier weight than what we are accustomed to with other performance-minded polos we’ve tested.

Despite the heavier weight the fabric, once on the polo didn’t feel like it was dragging us down and it was still breathable. If anything, the micro-poly polo feels like it will be incredibly durable, unlike some lightweight athletic clothing that your afraid won’t last a single round through the laundry. The polo’s “classic fit” hung loose but was not too baggy.

Our on course testing was on a cooler day, so while it didn’t get the full barrage of summer sweat and heat, the polo still held up well in regards to its moisture-wicking and odor control properties. It will be on our radar to get it out in warmer weather to see how it performs those conditions too.
