Nike Lunar Control 4 Golf Shoes Will Debut on Black Friday

Nike unveiled its all new Lunar Control 4 golf shoe, which will be available to order online November 27th and in stores December 1st.

Nike’s Lunar Control 4 was designed with heavy input from Rory McIlroy, who was seeking to create a shoe that could provide maximum stability.

Stability in the Nike Lunar Control 4 is achieved through a combination of supportive structures. Nike’s Flywire technology surrounds the mid-foot for lateral support. The shank — the layer between the inner and outer soles — is comprised of carbon fiber. The heel of the shoe is a rigid external structure to keep feet firmly planted through the golf swing.

All this stability is achieved without forsaking comfort. The “Lunar” in Lunar Control 4 comes from the use of Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning. Additional comfort comes from the use of a soft microfiber upper which is also water-resistant.

Stylistically, the Lunar Control 4 steals the toe placement of the Nike Swoosh from the limited edition Lunar Control 3’s Rory McIlroy wore earlier this year. The shoes will be available for men and women in black/white, white/ grey, and white/crimson color palettes and will start at $170.

Here is what Rory McIlroy, who will wear the new shoes this week in Dubai, had to say about the Nike Lunar Control 4:

“I have been looking forward to wearing this shoe for quite some time. It’s a design I’ve been involved with ever since my first year with Nike.

I use the ground a lot with my golf swing, and that’s one of the reasons why I hit the ball a long way for the size that I am. Your two feet do different things. Obviously, your left pivots on the way down and your right has to stabilize that motion. What this shoe offers is everything you need to have.

They give me the confidence needed to maximize power in my swing with reliable control on the ground, especially off the tee.”

Here’s the Nike Lunar Control 4 golf shoes in a very pretty package with the all new Vapor Fly Driver, quite the combination.
